One of our senior neighbors suffered a home invasion last week. She was unhurt, but the very idea of someone invading her home WAS unthinkable!!! Not so. Be sure to check on your neighbors and their safety and security--starting with locking doors and windows. Get a phone call in to them regularly. Stop and look in on them regularly. Looking after our elders takes a village.
Electra, one of our seniors, has had successful hip replacement surgery. She is at Handmaker's for rehab. We all wish her well, but can send cards to: 2221 N. Rosemont, 85712.
Carolyn Maki, one of our longtime volunteers, is in rehab. Her health caused 4 broken ribs and a neck injury. If you would like to send her good wishes, mail them to THE FORUM of TUCSON@ 2500 N. Rosemont, 85712. AT this time, she does not want visitors. . . .
Market on the Move is back in motion with LAH volunteers and senior neighbors. There will be a second delivery at month's end --quick on the heels of the successful deliveries this last Saturday. Thanks to all who make this excellent effort--Greg Smith and Wallace Kinkade for leadership along with their crews! Thanks to our To'Hono O'Odham Tribe Grant for monies to invest in MOM too.
Bill Crouse and friends have made it their business to get home maintenance issues taken care of with our senior neighbors. Just recently, they took care of shower safety bars at one home and created a cement ramp and handrails at another. What magicians they are! Part of our LAH Village!
LAH has recently taken in 10+ new clients and one new volunteer. This ratio is not good! We need to keep up with the demand. Let your friends, neighbors, relatives know that LAH needs their help. Call: 248-6882.
