I was present at the Shredit Event at Sacred Heart Church parking lot Saturday, 8-11. We shared the benefit, put on by Ward III and Amphi, with the EMERGE group against domestic abuse. It is always good to meet new folks and see old friends as they brought their documents for shredding. What a great service this company provides to the public. What a great benefit to our two service organizations. Thanks, Ward III; thanks, Shredit.
Last week, while waiting for my dad's prescription at CVS on Grant and Park, I witnessed many difficult calls and difficult walk ins who were served by the male pharmacist. I had to compliment him on his demeanor--each and every person received patience, care, and DIGNITY from him. One of the walk ins even said to the pharmacist, "I don't know how I would get through the day without you, Buddy!" While we serve our senior neighbors and, for that matter, anyone else, don't forget those qualities of patience, care, and DIGNITY which we all crave and all deserve. It was certainly a reminder to me.
