It is with great sadness that I tell you of Mary MacEwan's death at the age of 103. She just celebrated her 103rd birthday in April.
A lifelong peace activist, a mother of 2 sons, wife of a UA professor, a lovely, sharp, witty woman who was a stalwart in WILPF (Women's International League for Peace and Freedom). We knew her through LAH as we provided transportation, conversation, and visits to her. All who knew her loved her. Peace, Mary!
Additionally, we have lost Veola Salinas, 94. She was a great volunteer with Pima Council on Aging and subsequently, PCOA specially recommended her to us for services. How many times did I help do her yardwork with others? How many times did I take her to her favorite hair salon for that yearly perm? How she took care of me when she went to El Rio Clinic and told me to get a flu shot! Thank you, Veola, She would always announce herself as 'V." Take care, "V."
