Murray DeArmond and Sue DeArmond took on the Greek Festival Parking Lot Project and wow! Wonderful job, Murray and Sue. We marked 5 years of doing this on Carlos and Co. corner lot at Mountain and Ft. Lowell. It is a lucrative project, but needs to be done right. Murray, you are the Man! You too Sue. Thank you.
Saturday, 9/22, LAH and Mountain Ave. Church of Christ Teen Group collaborated on two senior homes. We had 18 teens and several adults splitting the work: one group who did laundry, cleaned floors, played with pets at Linda's house and 3 other groups making light work in the front, back and side yards of Caralee's home and also inside, polishing brass bedframe and changing bedding as well as cleaning kitchen. It was a terrific example of many hands. . . .teens are terrific! Thank you, Jessica Knapp, MACC group leader. In the morning of the same day, these teens ate lunch with some of Tucson's homeless folks downtown, shared water, talked, learned more about our city history. What a productive group.
Saturday morning I attended the memorial service for Eileen Ward, one of our seniors. May she rest in peace after 89 years on earth. Her WWII Coast Guard work, her U of A telephone operator work, her wry sense of humor, her selfless giving and her solid friendships were hallmarks of her life. She leaves a son, Larry, who sang Mom's favorite hymn at the service. We were priveleged to serve Eileen.
