If you have friends, family, neighbors who would drive for LAH, please send them my way! We do need more drivers as our senior neighbors have more and more driving requests, though we try to keep them at 25 each week. Several of our volunteers drive two or three times per week. If we had more drivers, . . . . .Thank you for your service.
Our Senior Canteen picnic at Reid Park was a big hit last Tuesday! Thank you, Janet, Mare, and Veronica as well as Alan. The food was grilled. The cameraderie was great, as usual. Connie was recognized for her tireless work on Canteen and we wish her well in a more relaxed position with LAH.
There are three areas in which we are looking to volunteers for help:
1. Phil, a ninety something, has great neighbors and home health folks looking in on him, but needs a few hands to help around 6 pm each evening for: warming his food, feeding his dog, and a short visit (one hour max) Could you take on one day a week to fill in for Phil at home? (He lives a few steps away from the Valley of the Moon site, off of Allen. I don't know if LAH can really fill the bill, but we thought to try. Contact Michele ASAP if you can step up: 248-6882.
2. March 7 at the Food City Plaza on Ft. Lowell and 1st Avenue there will be a Shredit Event sponsored by Ward III and Shredit for folks to bring their paperwork for shredding: First box is free, after that, $5 each which benefits, Lend A Hand or another partner non-profit. Needed: one or two folks to sit at the LAH table, 9-12 on that day. You would hand out brochures and collect the donations and then release them to our LAH Treasurer.
3. March 7 and 8 are the LAH Yardsale Days. Click here to see the flyer for the event. Jane Hoffmann is the contact person in order to volunteer or to donate items.
Lots of workers needed. 323-9299.
There are 27 or so requests. 20 are medically related. We have one regular driver out this week so we will miss his filling in as driver. Please help us out! We do need more drivers!
