LEND A HAND SENIOR WRITING PROJECT MEETING

On July 20, 2009, we had our bi-weekly meeting at Sherri’s house. We had an excellent turnout. There were four LAH volunteers: Carolyn, Michele, Laura, and Sherri. Also, we had five writers: Betty, Jim, Ruth, Liz, and Arlene and we had one visitor, Skip, Betty’s sister.

Sherri had the meeting at her house because she had just gotten back from a two week vacation to France. She had lots and lots of pictures to show us and she narrated each one. She went with her mom and daughter. Good Job, Sherri!

After the pictures, Liz, Jim and Betty shared their writings from the week before. Ruth had something from the newspaper, and we will use that as our next field trip—the Navajo Code Talkers of World War II, now exhibited at the Arizona State Museum on the University of Arizona campus. It was one of the best meetings we have ever had.

	Blue Raven Gallery & Gifts is a small gallery that often has benefits tied to its art opening and shows. A portion of proceeds from its art sales goes to different non-profit organizations in the community.  In the Gift Shop, items include cards, prints, Tohono O'Odham baskets, jewerly, and Mata Ortiz pottery.
